Lambodara Sankashti Chaturthi 2021: The elephant-headed god- Lord Ganesha is worshipped at the beginning of every ritual, puja or ceremony. However, there is one day in every month of the year when this worship is said to be at its peak. The day is known as Sankashti Chaturthi or Sakat Chauth. This day is even more auspicious, especially if it falls on a Tuesday or Friday.
On this day devotees of Lord Ganesha observe a day-long fast and worship him to seek his blessings and to get rid of all obstacles in their life.
According to the Hindu calendar, each month has two Chaturthi Tithis. The Krishna Paksha Chaturthi Vrat that falls in the month of Paush (as per the Amavasyant calendar) and Magha (as per the Purnimant calendar) is known as Lambodara Sankashti Chaturthi Vrat.

Lambodara Sankashti Chaturthi 2021: Rituals
On this day, devotees keep a partial or day-long fast. The main puja of the day is done in the evening after the moon is visible. The idol of Lord Ganesha is worshipped with Durva grass, fresh flowers and incense sticks. Lamps are lit, and devotees read the "vrat katha" specific to the month. The rituals for this day end with the sighting of the moon.
Apart from worshipping Lod Ganesha, the moon is also worshipped on Sankashti Chaturthi. Water, Chandan or sandalwood paste, rice and flowers are offered in the direction of the moon.
